Summary
As a Yard Driver, you will be responsible for safely moving trailers and containers around the yard to support daily warehouse and shipping operations.
Compensation
- This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $25.75 to $28.75 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $64,300 and $82,400 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated yard positions.
- Support loading and unloading operations by ensuring trailers are positioned accurately and on time.
- Perform pre- and post-inspections of yard trucks and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Maintain an organized and clean yard by staging equipment and clearing obstructions.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, dispatches, and supervisors regarding trailer movements.
- Follow all yard safety rules, traffic patterns, and company procedures.
- Operate yard tractor, switcher, or hostler truck as assigned.
- May assist with basic warehouse tasks as required.
- Perform additional duties as required or requested.
- Requirements :
- Valid Class A Driver’s License.
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable driving experience with heavy-duty vehicles.
- Comfortable with making local deliveries with multiple stops.
