Workshop Team Leader

Overview

Workshop Operations & Workflow Management

• Oversee daily workshop activities, job allocation, and prioritisation
• Ensure smooth workflow across all technicians and work bays
• Monitor job progress and resolve delays or operational bottlenecks
• Maximise workshop efficiency and utilisation

Quality Control

• Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer and company standards
• Conduct quality checks on completed work when required
• Reduce comebacks through strict adherence to procedures
• Enforce correct diagnostic and repair processes

Technician Leadership & Supervision

• Supervise, guide, and support all technicians
• Monitor productivity, efficiency, and performance levels
• Identify training needs and development opportunities
• Maintain discipline, structure, and accountability within the workshop

Coordination With Service Team Leaders (Stls)

• Work closely with STLs to ensure clear job instructions and expectations
• Support accurate time estimates and job updates for customers
• Provide technical input where required
• Ensure alignment between workshop output and customer commitments

Diagnostic Oversight

• Coordinate with Diagnostic Technician on complex repair cases
• Ensure proper diagnostics are completed before repairs commence
• Minimise misdiagnosis and unnecessary parts replacement

Performance & Kpi Management

• Drive key performance indicators including productivity, efficiency, labour output, and comeback rate
• Take corrective action to ensure targets are consistently met

Health, Safety & Workshop Standards

• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
• Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workshop environment
• Enforce proper use of tools, systems, and equipment

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a workshop environment
• Previous supervisory or foreman experience preferred
• Strong technical knowledge (Mercedes-Benz experience is an advantage)
• Proven leadership and team management skills
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
