Responsibilities

  • Review and approve wet utilities discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on each project.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels for the wet utilities team, including temporary personnel as needed. Review and approve staff forecasting reports.
  • If assigned to a major program, manage all wet utilities engineering and design efforts (potable water, TSE, foul sewer) required for the program.
  • Coordinate all wet utilities discipline staffing requirements for the program and interface with other disciplines.
  • Monitor the quality and progress of wet utilities design on each project, ensuring that production, design, and technical requirements are satisfied.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to resolve any existing or forecasted issues related to wet utilities discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.
  • Establish standards, design criteria, and procedures manuals for the wet utilities discipline and recommend improvements to department procedures.
  • Support pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as a technical consultant for wet utilities–related pursuits and proposals.
  • Ensure wet utilities discipline performance within overhead budgets authorized for the discipline.
  • Actively participate in and promote the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Lead or participate in committees or working groups within the wet utilities discipline, striving to motivate, mentor, and develop assigned personnel.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field), preferably Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of related work experience in wet utilities (potable water, TSE, and foul sewer) engineering and design, including supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration with active membership in a professional engineering society may be required, depending on project and client requirements.
  • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity, leading wet utilities engineering and design teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices, authority standards, and regulations applicable to potable water, TSE, and foul sewer systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of current wet utilities design technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering and modeling software used to complete wet utilities assignments.
