Position Overview

Tutor Partners is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable virtual AP Computer Science tutor to support high school students preparing for the AP exam. Tutors deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in programming, algorithms, and computational thinking, helping students build mastery, confidence, and readiness for college-level computer science coursework.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality AP Computer Science tutoring in a virtual, one-on-one setting

Personalize instruction using assessments and student progress data

Build supportive relationships that motivate students and foster confidence in problem-solving

Teach topics including programming fundamentals (Java or Python), algorithms, data structures, computational thinking, and AP CS course content (A or Principles)

Support exam preparation, coding projects, and real-world application problems

Collaborate with educators, coaches, and families to align tutoring with course requirements

Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and cultural responsiveness at all times

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science required

Certified teacher of Computer Science

Strong working knowledge of the AP Computer Science curriculum (Java/programming fundamentals, or AP CS Principles concepts, depending on course)

Prior experience tutoring or teaching AP-level students preferred

Reliable technology and internet for virtual instruction
