What You Will Be Working On

  • Lead end-to-end design work, including scoping research, defining problems, exploring and refining solutions, and taking them through to delivery across user flows, information architecture, and interaction patterns.
  • Independently plan and conduct user research, such as guerrilla interviews, usability testing, and contextual inquiry, and translate findings into clear, thoughtful design decisions.
  • Apply a service design approach by mapping processes, understanding user journeys, and using service blueprint concepts when addressing complex scenarios.
  • Use strong attention to detail to simplify forms and processes, questioning unnecessary complexity and form fields within the context of business license applications and citizen-facing services.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale to Product Managers and Engineers, align stakeholders through evidence-based reasoning, and make well-considered trade-off decisions.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops to create alignment and support efforts to streamline forms and processes.
  • Proactively spot quality gaps and improvement opportunities in your own work and across the wider team.
  • Contribute to the design community by leading or supporting design initiatives, testing new methods or tools, sharing learnings, and actively taking part in learning and knowledge-sharing sessions.

What We Are Looking For

  • Typically 4–7 years of experience in UX, product, or service design, with a strong portfolio showing independent ownership of design work from research and problem definition through to delivered solutions. Experience in service or process streamlining work is especially valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct user research end-to-end, synthesise qualitative and quantitative insights, and apply them effectively to design decisions.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design and information architecture, with developing fluency in visual hierarchy, layout, and accessibility.
  • A service design mindset, with comfort in mapping processes, working with user journeys, and applying service blueprint concepts to more complex problem areas.
  • Experience working with Product Managers and Engineers in an agile or iterative environment, with the ability to make and justify trade-off decisions based on user evidence and project constraints.
  • Proactive, reflective, and constructive in team settings, with the ability to challenge assumptions and review existing processes honestly and thoughtfully while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Preferred: experience using AI tools in design workflows, with sound judgement on when they are useful and when they are not.
  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
