Utility Foreman

Role Overview

Site Supervision and Coordination

• Supervise daily activities of utility crews involved in road construction projects.
• Coordinate utility installation and ensure alignment, levels, and workmanship comply with drawings and specifications.
• Plan daily work schedules and coordinate with site engineers, surveyors, and project managers.
• Confirm required materials, equipment, and manpower are available before work begins.

Safety and Quality

• Enforce site safety policies, conduct daily toolbox talks, and ensure workers use proper PPE.
• Identify hazards related to trenching, excavation, and underground utilities.
• Monitor trench depth, pipe bedding, compaction, and backfilling processes.
• Report and rectify deviations or defects against project specifications and quality standards.

Equipment and Materials

• Monitor excavators, compactors, loaders, and other construction equipment.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of pipes, fittings, and other utility materials.
• Track material consumption and report shortages.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain daily work progress reports.
• Record manpower, equipment usage, and completed quantities.
• Report progress, delays, or issues to the Site Engineer or Project Manager.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or technical certification in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology is preferred.
• At least 5 to 10 years of road construction experience is required, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with utility installation, drainage systems, and underground services is required.
• Knowledge of road construction utilities and trenching works is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility layouts is required.
• Leadership, team management, communication, and coordination skills are required.

Workplace

• Work location is in person on road construction sites.
