Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality basic nursing care for a designated group of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients/significant others and all health care team members
- Share responsibility for managing resources, supplies and equipment
- Assist with coordination of patient care activities and departmental services
- Provide clerical and unit related services as specified by the unit
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current CPR certification
- CNA certification preferred or equivalent healthcare experience and education
- Prefer one year minimum experience in patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver
- Prefer one year of clerical experience, preferably in the medical field
- Must have proficient computer skills and general understanding of computer applications
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Summary
- The Unit Assistant has responsibility and accountability for delivery of high quality basic nursing care for a designated group of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse in accordance with individual patient needs, physician orders, hospital and departmental policies.
- Maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients/significant others and all health care team members.
- Shares responsibility for managing resources, supplies and equipment.
- Assists with coordination of patient care activities and departmental services.
- Provides clerical and unit related services as specified by the unit.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification
- CNA certification preferred or the equivalent of healthcare experience and education.
- Current CPR.
Experience
- Prefer one year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver.
- Prefer one year of clerical experience, preferably in the medical field.
Other Qualifications
- Must have proficient computer skills and general understanding of computer applications.
- Demonstrates ability to multi task and work independently using critical thinking skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
