Rate of Pay:
Bachelor’s Degree in English, writing, or related area.
Must be responsible, independent workers who maintain an on-time commitment.
Must possess sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged/at-risk students.
Must possess sensitivity for students of all cultures and backgrounds.
Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, how to tutor students with disabilities.
Previous teaching experience preferred, especially with high school or college level students.
Master's level coursework or Master's degree in English or writing preferred.
Help students improve their writing skills as they work on writing assignments for any class, not just English.
Provide help with grammar and punctuation, formatting, documentation, etc., at any stage during the writing process.
Reinforce classroom instruction, encourage academic progress, and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Maintain confidentiality regarding the students they serve.
Maintain student records, timesheets, and other paperwork.
Attend department meetings and training sessions.
Participate in discussions regarding ways to better serve students.
Refer students to the Write Place Director or Senior Director of Academic Support Services, if appropriate.
