Summary of overall job role-

Certified Stcw Iii And Ii Mandatory

  • Responsible for the maintenance, operation, and repair of the Harbour Tugs’/Marine Fleet machinery and systems and watch keeping requirements.
  • Day-to-day operations-
  • Monitor and supervise day to day operation of all machinery in tugs in an efficient manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on engines, generators, propulsion systems, pumps, and other mechanical and electrical systems aboard the tugboat.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure continuous operation of the vessel.
  • Maintain engine spare parts and machineries inventory and prepare/submit material request to Fleet Engineer/ in charge.
  • Report to Fleet Engineer / in charge about faults or other problems which may occur during tug operation thereby avoiding wastage in cost and resources.
  • Respond to mechanical failures or emergencies promptly and efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of the vessel and crew.
  • Carry out PMS routine and filter changing/cleaning engine oil changing, any water/oil leak repairs, general cleanliness of the machinery spaces, and ensure all activities are performed in accordance with DDW standards.
  • Maintain good working relationship with workers, appointed Foreman, Supervisors and Management.
  • Attend any training for any activity required by the department.
  • Ensure materials are of required standard prior to use, reporting damages when required.
  • Work within allocated timescale to meet department targets.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • STCW III/II Mandatory as Minimum Requirements for Certification of Chief Engineer Officers and Second Engineer Officers on Ships Powered by Main Propulsion Machinery of 3,000 Kw Propulsion Power or More, the certification must be recognized by MOEI (EX. FTA).
  • At least 5 years previous experience as a Tug Engineer or in a similar technical role on habour tugs, with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems.
