Job Overview
The Conference Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and driving revenue growth for our travel industry conferences across Europe.
With a focus on engaging hotels, travel destinations, museums, retailers, and other travel suppliers, this role requires a dynamic, results-oriented professional with extensive experience in Europe industry travel, hospitality, and tourism sectors.
The successful candidate will develop and execute tailored sales strategies, secure sponsorships and partnerships, and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure our conferences meet and exceed revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities
- **Sales Strategy & Execution:**
- Develop and implement targeted sales strategies specifically for hotels, travel destinations, museums, retailers, and other travel suppliers across Europe.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within these segments, adapting approaches to meet regional nuances and regulatory environments.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts, track performance metrics, and provide regular reports to senior management.
- **Client Relationship Management:**
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers in hotels, travel destinations, museums, retail, and other travel-related sectors throughout Europe.
- Conduct presentations and meetings to demonstrate the value of our conferences to prospective clients.
- Collaborate with marketing and event teams to tailor conference offerings that address the specific needs and trends of the MENA travel supplier market.
- **Account Management & Negotiations:**
- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation to contract negotiations and deal closure.
- Develop and present customized proposals for sponsorships and partnerships that resonate with the priorities of hotels, travel destinations, museums, retailers, and other suppliers.
- Maintain an up-to-date CRM system (e.g., Salesforce) with comprehensive records of client interactions, opportunities, and sales progress.
- **Event Collaboration & Coordination:**
- Work closely with event management, marketing, and logistics teams to ensure seamless conference execution that aligns with regional expectations.
- Provide market insights and client feedback to inform event planning, content development, and programming.
- Participate in pre-event planning sessions and post-event evaluations to identify successes and areas for improvement.
- **Market Analysis & Industry Engagement:**
- Monitor trends and developments in the European travel industry, with a specific focus on hotels, travel destinations, museums, retailers, and other travel suppliers.
- Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and networking sessions across Europe to enhance brand visibility and generate new business leads.
- Leverage emerging trends and digital tools to optimize sales strategies and enhance client engagement.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- **Education:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certifications in sales, marketing, or event management are advantageous.
- **Experience:**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in conference sales, event sales, or business development within the travel, hospitality, or tourism industries, specifically in the European market.
- Demonstrated success in achieving or surpassing sales targets in a competitive, fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing large-scale conferences or events in Europe, with direct involvement in sectors such as hotels, travel destinations, museums, and retail, is highly desirable.
- **Skills & Capabilities:**
- In-depth understanding of the European travel industry, including market dynamics, cultural considerations, and regulatory environments, with a focus on travel suppliers.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; fluency in English is required, with additional languages considered a plus.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of operating independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
