Michael Baker is seeking a Transportation Technical Manager to join our Chicago, IL team. This leadership role is ideal for a transportation professional with strong technical expertise, project delivery experience, and a passion for mentoring teams. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of roadway and transportation projects for a variety of public-sector clients across Illinois and the Midwest, while supporting business development, client relationships, and technical excellence. Experience with roadway design, transportation infrastructure, and project management is essential.
Lead the technical delivery of roadway and transportation projects from planning through final design.
Oversee project quality through QA/QC reviews of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
Manage project teams, schedules, budgets, and staff utilization to ensure successful project execution.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers.
Develop scopes of work, fee estimates, and support proposal pursuits.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including IDOT, counties, municipalities, and other transportation agencies.
Support business development efforts and identify opportunities for growth within the Chicago market.
