As an NFU Mutual Trainee Risk Management Consultant you’ll be part of an in-house Risk Management Services team that’s been helping business owners identify and minimise commercial risk for over 30 years.
Under supervision working with our expert consultants in one of the largest Risk Management Consultancy’s in the UK, you’ll be trained to offer risk management advice to help clients of all sizes, from a broad range of industries, to reduce losses and have fewer accidents, protecting their loss ratios and future premium spend.
Working from home, no two days are the same. As our clients span across a broad spectrum of industries such as commercial, agriculture, retail, estates and leisure, you could easily be meeting with a large commercial business in the morning and a one-person start-up in the afternoon.
You’ll also build relationships with other internal teams and external industry and regulatory bodies, to ensure the effective delivery and promotion of the Risk Management Services division. Ultimately, as part of a team, you’ll help our parent company, NFU Mutual, to achieve one of its key strategic objectives, which is sustainable, profitable growth.

Undertake risk assessments for farming and commercial customers as part of NFUM Risk Management Services Team
Effectively manage risk for the customer and reduce losses for both customers and the business
Providing risk improvement reports and technical insight to Underwriting to help inform insurance decisions

A real people person with a proven background in relationship building and working with a variety of customers, you easily adopt a consultative approach to your work and ensure the best advice and outcome is delivered to customers.
Ideally, you’ll have experience of underwriting, surveying or commercial engineering, or have worked in other relevant insurance roles
What we are looking for;
Willingness to commence working or continue working towards ACII / IOSH.
Full, clean UK Driving Licence
Ability to develop collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience of working independently and managing own diary.
Willingness to learn new skills and seek development opportunities.
Ability and willingness to travel and work in a geographically assigned area with occasional out of area work where required.
Experience in an insurance related role, particularly underwriting or claims. Experience of solving technical problems and relaying findings to customers
