Role Overview

Parsons is seeking a Traffic Engineer for a project site in Qatar.

The role manages traffic control and traffic management systems around a construction site.

The position coordinates with contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to reduce disruption and maintain safe traffic flow.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-site movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and construction equipment.
  • Develop construction-site traffic management plans and coordinate temporary traffic controls.
  • Obtain required traffic permits and approvals from local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Monitor traffic flow and respond to incidents, accidents, and disruptions.
  • Inspect, maintain, and review traffic management measures and control layouts.
  • Coordinate lane closures, detours, and traffic disruptions with construction schedules.
  • Analyze traffic patterns and recommend safety and disruption-reduction improvements.
  • Maintain communication with project stakeholders and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of professional traffic engineering experience on construction projects.
  • Expertise in construction traffic management plans, traffic control layouts, and temporary traffic controls.
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations, work zone safety, and environmental protection standards.
  • Experience coordinating permits and approvals with authorities, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with strong technical communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in relevant site management and reporting tools.
  • MME certification.

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in SYNCHRO, VISSIM, or similar traffic engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience managing traffic in urban or high-traffic areas.
  • Knowledge of smart city and sustainable transportation solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site traffic concerns.
  • Leadership ability to guide traffic officers and inspectors.
  • Familiarity with routing large construction equipment in high-traffic areas.
