Job description

The Traffic Engineer will join the project site team in Qatar.

The role oversees traffic control and traffic management around construction sites to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow.

The position coordinates with contractors, authorities, and stakeholders to minimize disruption to the public and construction activities.

What you will do

  • Manage site traffic operations for vehicles, pedestrians, and construction equipment.
  • Develop and implement construction-site traffic management plans.
  • Coordinate temporary traffic control devices, including signs, barriers, and signals.
  • Obtain traffic permits and approvals through coordination with authorities and stakeholders.
  • Monitor traffic flow and respond to incidents, accidents, and disruptions.
  • Inspect traffic management measures throughout the project.
  • Prepare and review traffic control layouts.
  • Analyze traffic patterns and recommend safety and disruption-reduction measures.
  • Coordinate lane closures, detours, and traffic disruptions with the construction team.
  • Maintain communication with contractors and authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and standards.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of traffic engineering experience focused on construction-site traffic management.
  • Expertise in construction traffic management plans and traffic control layouts.
  • Experience with temporary traffic controls, lane closures, signage, and diversions.
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations, work zone safety, and environmental protection standards.
  • Experience obtaining permits and coordinating with authorities, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with strong technical communication skills.
  • MME certification.

Desired skills

  • Proficiency in SYNCHRO, VISSIM, or similar traffic engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience managing traffic in urban or high-traffic areas.
  • Knowledge of smart city and sustainable transportation solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple site traffic concerns under pressure.
  • Leadership experience guiding traffic officers and inspectors.
  • Familiarity with routing large construction equipment in high-traffic areas.
