In addition, the position requires a high degree of diligence, accuracy, and attention to detail to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory frameworks, including the Dodd-Frank Act, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and other relevant industry requirements, while maintaining the integrity of all reporting, monitoring, and control activities.
Activities
Responsibilities:
Trade Management & Validation
Manage a designated portfolio of trading counterparties, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all related transactions.
Review and validate trader deal sheets and electronic trade reports for transactions entered into the company’s trading system (BOOK).
Confirm daily trades with counterparties and brokers to ensure trades are accurately captured and recorded within BOOK.
Monitor and validate exchange-traded positions, exposures, and trading limits.
Perform daily trade reconciliation between confirmations, recaps, and trading systems, ensuring alignment between external confirmations and internal records.
Settlements, Invoicing & Reconciliation
Prepare and issue invoices to counterparties in accordance with contractual obligations and industry deadlines.
Reconcile counterparty and pipeline invoices in partnership with Operations and Middle Office teams, promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Reconcile open trade equity balances against daily statements received from clearing houses.
Coordinate and agree upon settlements with counterparties, provide timely payment instructions, and support Treasury with cash forecasting information.
Assist Accounting with aged receivables reporting, accrual reviews, and the resolution of outstanding items.
Monitor and administer payment terms, settlement provisions, and netting arrangements within Simba and Contract Management systems.
Review and analyze settlement statements within the Simba SMS platform to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Confirmations & Documentation
Review, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing trade confirmations generated through the BOOK Confirmation Module and third-party platforms.
Record confirmations within BOOK, monitor outstanding items, and actively follow up to obtain timely resolution.
Analyze confirmations and settlement documentation to identify and resolve pricing, volume, and contractual discrepancies.
Collaborate with Technology and IT teams to enhance and automate confirmation workflows, improving operational efficiency and control.
Regulatory Reporting & Market Monitoring
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial OTC transactions to regulators in compliance with Dodd-Frank and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitor regulatory developments, market rule changes, and industry initiatives, assessing their impact on settlement, confirmation, and reconciliation processes.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards through accurate documentation, reporting, and process governance.
Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and compliance reviews by providing documentation and responding to information requests as needed.
Counterparty Onboarding & Stakeholder Support
Lead the onboarding and integration of new trading counterparties, ensuring all operational, compliance, and documentation requirements are completed accurately and efficiently.
Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing timely resolution and support for Trade Support inquiries and operational issues.
Foster a collaborative team environment by mentoring junior team members, sharing best practices, and providing guidance and support to colleagues as required.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with trading, risk, finance, legal, compliance, and external counterparties to support business objectives.
Projects, Reporting & Process Improvement
Participate in and lead team and individual initiatives as assigned by the Trade Support Manager or Supervisor, ensuring successful delivery of project objectives.
Prepare management reports, performance metrics, and ad hoc analyses to support operational decision-making and business strategy.
Support the launch of new products, markets, and business initiatives, including the development and maintenance of process documentation in accordance with audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Identify, recommend, and implement process enhancements, automation opportunities, and system improvements to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce operational risk.
Coordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT), system validations, and desk-level enhancement initiatives to ensure successful implementation of process and technology changes.
Evaluate operational risks, recommend appropriate mitigation strategies, and prioritize actions to support a robust control environment.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the adoption of innovative tools and technologies.
Develop reporting solutions, dashboards, and automation tools that improve transparency, streamline workflows, and support evolving business needs.
Job Dimension:
Financial
The Back Office supports a high-volume trading environment, processing approximately 250,000 trade confirmations and 35,000 invoices and payments annually.
Interacts with a diverse portfolio of counterparties, including upstream and downstream affiliates and major energy companies across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
Supports clearing activities with annual transaction volumes exceeding USD 12.9 billion, requiring strong operational controls, accuracy, and timely execution.
Non-Financial
Operates within the Houston-based Back Office as part of the Global Risk Control organization, supporting both TGPNA and TGPL activities.
Provides operational coverage across a broad range of energy products, including natural gas, ethane, shale gas, LNG, and LPG.
Supports the testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems, applications, and operational processes.
Participates in internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and corporate governance standards.
Contributes to projects and strategic initiatives focused on process optimization, automation, system enhancements, and regulatory change management.
Collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including Trading, Risk, Operations, Treasury, Information Technology, and Compliance, to deliver efficient and controlled operational support.
Helps identify operational risks, recommend mitigating actions, and support the ongoing enhancement of control frameworks and business processes.
Accountabilities:
Ensure the timely and accurate processing of trade confirmations, invoicing, and payments in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Perform daily trade control and reconciliation activities to maintain the integrity of the trading book, validating transactions against broker, exchange, and clearinghouse records.
Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve trade discrepancies and verification issues, escalating risks appropriately to minimize operational, financial, and compliance exposure.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties through clear, professional, and proactive communication, ensuring timely issue resolution and operational transparency.
Take ownership of issues from identification through resolution, demonstrating accountability, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance controls, streamline workflows, and increase operational efficiency.
Uphold the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence to mitigate financial, regulatory, and reputational risk.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Energy Management, Economics, or a related business discipline.
Industry Experience
2-3 years of experience within the Natural Gas, LNG, or broader Energy markets, with a strong emphasis on data analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of energy commodity markets, trading operations, and related industry practices is highly desirable.

- Proficiency in Power BI for developing interactive dashboards, visualizations, and management reporting.
- Experience with Alteryx for data preparation, workflow automation, and data transformation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate for streamlining and automating business processes.
- Ability to develop and implement tools, reports, and automated solutions that enhance process controls, improve efficiency, and adapt to evolving business requirements.
