Main Purpose of Job

Lead and manage the midwifery and nursing team in patient-centric, evidence-based care.

Drive operational efficiency and positive patient experiences in the Labour and Delivery Ward.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Provide leadership and management guidance to the team.
  • Ensure evidence-based patient care practices follow clinical standards.
  • Develop employees and create an environment that supports team engagement.
  • Manage clinical and non-clinical resources efficiently to enhance safe patient care.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and clinical compliance for continuous quality improvement.
  • Lead obstetric emergency preparedness and response across the unit.
  • Plan and manage capacity, staffing, and patient flow as activity changes.
  • Escalate and adapt resourcing in response to demand.

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in midwifery is required.
  • At least 3-5 years of senior nursing experience is required.
  • Private hospital experience is preferred.
  • A master's degree in midwifery, nursing, or a related healthcare field is desired.
  • Five to ten years of senior midwifery experience managing a high-volume Labour and Delivery service is desired.

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to implement all five stages of the Scientific Nursing Process.
  • Presentation skills and effective meeting management.
  • Knowledge of UAE Labour Law and healthcare regulations.
  • Computer literacy and MS Office proficiency.
  • Cost management, stock control, workforce planning, and scheduling.
  • Nursing functional competence and clinical procedure assessment.
  • Quality management, governance, and risk management best practices.

  • The role is based at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
