Role Description

  • The Testing and Commissioning Engineer is a full time, on site role based in Abu Dhabi.
  • The role involves planning, executing, and documenting electrical testing and commissioning activities for HV and LV systems, substations, and associated MEP installations.
  • Day to day tasks include reviewing technical drawings and specifications, preparing testing procedures, conducting functional and performance tests, and ensuring systems meet safety and quality standards.
  • The engineer will diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, coordinate with project teams, contractors, and clients, and support timely project delivery.
  • The role also includes maintaining accurate records, preparing test reports, adhering to relevant standards and regulations, and promoting a safe working environment on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, monitor, and coordinate project schedules in collaboration with suppliers, vendors, clients, and site teams to ensure timely project execution.
  • Lead and supervise the site testing and commissioning team, ensuring the safe execution of activities and the successful completion of projects within the scheduled timeline.
  • Perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis of HV/LV electrical equipment, power systems, generators, and MEP installations.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain all technical documentation, including method statements, test procedures, inspection reports, commissioning records, and final test reports.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, vendors, and internal management to ensure smooth communication and efficient project implementation.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve technical issues encountered during testing, commissioning, and project execution while implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to engineers, supervisors, and technicians throughout project execution and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, IEC/IEEE standards, local authority regulations, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Participate in project meetings, technical reviews, progress discussions, and client coordination meetings to achieve project milestones and resolve technical concerns.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience as a Testing & Commissioning Engineer in electrical, power, or MEP projects.
  • Hands on experience in testing and commissioning of HV/LV electrical equipment, substations, generator systems, and MEP installations.
  • GCC experience in substation projects, generator systems, and MEP projects will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, protection systems, and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with applicable IEC, IEEE, DEWA, ADDC, AADC, TRANSCO, and other relevant local authority standards and safety regulations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and fault finding skills for electrical systems and equipment.
  • Strong analytical, technical documentation, and report writing skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Good communication, coordination, and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to work at project sites, respond to emergency situations, and adapt to varying project schedules when required.

Positions Available

  • Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer: 6–8 years experience, UAE experience mandatory.
  • Junior Testing & Commissioning Engineer: 2–4 years experience, UAE experience mandatory.
