Scenario Design: Create realistic surgical scenarios and task-trainer exercises that target specific knowledge gaps and procedural techniques.
Instruction & Debriefing: Lead simulation sessions and conduct "Debriefing with Good Judgment" approaches to help learners reflect on their performance.
Competency Assessment: Establish metrics to evaluate technical and non-technical skills (such as crisis management and interdisciplinary team communication).
Equipment Management: Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and integration of cutting-edge surgical technologies (e.g., robotic surgery consoles, laparoscopic simulators).

Resource Allocation: Develop policies regarding lab space, scheduling procedures, and the protection of clinical and simulation resources.
Vendor & IT Collaboration: Work alongside vendors and hospital IT departments to ensure timely hardware/software upgrades and repairs.
Strategic Planning: Establish, track, and monitor the long-term goals and vision of the simulation program.
Budgeting: Assist in the management the center’s finances, including budget forecasting, capital equipment purchasing, and grant management.
Compliance: Ensure the simulation center adheres to standards set by the ACS
Assist with traditional anatomy dissection courses including head and neck, musculoskeletal anatomy of the extremities, and thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities.
Act as a facilitator to lead individual stations during anatomy case-based sessions.
Some preparation is required beforehand, such as setting up donor specimens or Anatomage tables, ensuring equipment (e.g., a cystoscope) is properly positioned, and identifying relevant pathology if possible, to highlight for the students.
Fellow of the American College of surgeons FACS)
Has a minimum of 10% protected time dedicated to his role is surgical Director.
