Key skills for this role
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You have spent years in the trenches with engineering simulation software, and you know that the real work starts after the demo ends. The difference between a customer who adopts a tool and one who abandons it usually comes down to whether someone showed up when the model wouldn't converge at 2 a.m. or when the workflow broke three weeks into a critical project. You are that someone.
You think in solutions, not features. When a customer describes a problem, you are already mapping it to the physics, the solver settings, the mesh quality issue they have not mentioned yet, and the three workarounds you have seen work in similar cases. You do not wait for perfect information. You ask the right questions, reproduce the issue if you need to, and find a path forward that keeps their project moving.
You have built enough models yourself to know when a support request is actually a workflow problem, a training gap, or a legitimate software limitation. You can explain a complex nonlinear analysis trade-off in terms that make sense to a design engineer who just needs their part to not fail, and you can do it in two languages without losing the nuance. At Synopsys, you will work with customers solving real engineering problems using structural simulation tools that matter, and your work will directly determine whether they succeed or get stuck.
Deploy Synopsys Structural Products including Mechanical, LS-Dyna, APDL, and Discovery to solve customer engineering problems, using AI-based platforms alongside your own technical expertise to accelerate resolution

Troubleshoot complex structural analysis issues including nonlinear analysis, explicit dynamics, and numerical modeling challenges that customers encounter in real-world simulation projects
Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers in Japan, serving as their technical partner throughout their adoption and ongoing use of Synopsys simulation software
Create and update technical content including knowledge base articles, workflow guides, and best practice documentation that helps customers and internal team members solve problems faster
File detailed defect reports when you identify software issues, verify fixes from engineering, and participate in field testing of new releases to ensure features actually work for customer workflows
Support team members by sharing your expertise, proactively addressing gaps in coverage or knowledge, and contributing to the overall capability and effectiveness of the Customer Excellence team
Learn and apply AI-based technologies that enhance engineering capabilities, and help customers understand how these tools can make their simulation work more effective
Keep customer projects moving by resolving simulation issues that would otherwise block critical engineering work and product development timelines
Increase adoption and deployment of Synopsys Structural Products across your customer base by making the software actually work in their specific engineering contexts
Improve product quality by identifying real-world software issues, documenting them clearly, and working with engineering to validate that fixes solve the actual customer problem
Build institutional knowledge that scales beyond your individual support work through documentation that helps hundreds of users solve problems without needing to file a case
Strengthen customer retention and satisfaction by showing up consistently, solving hard problems, and proving that Synopsys support means something
Shape product direction by surfacing feature requests and workflow gaps that come directly from customer engineering needs, not theoretical use cases
Expand the technical capability of the team by sharing what you learn, mentoring colleagues, and raising the bar for what good customer support looks like
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field
4+ years of hands-on experience working with engineering simulation software in a professional environment, either in industry or in a customer-facing technical role
Demonstrated use of Synopsys Structural software such as Mechanical or LS-Dyna, or deep working knowledge of other commercial CAE software packages like Abaqus, Nastran, or similar tools
Strong foundation in structural analysis, nonlinear analysis, numerical methods, and explicit dynamics, with the ability to apply that knowledge to solve real engineering problems
Fluency in both English and Japanese, written and spoken, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in both languages
Experience in customer-facing roles where you have identified customer requirements, communicated technical solutions, and delivered results is a strong plus
Experience with explicit dynamics analysis, Workbench Mechanical, APDL, or Discovery is a plus
You can take a vague customer problem description and turn it into a reproducible test case, a root cause analysis, and a working solution without needing someone to hand you a step-by-step plan
You know when to dig deeper and when to escalate, and you do not let a customer sit in limbo because you are too proud to ask for help from a colleague or engineering
You can explain why a nonlinear analysis failed to converge in terms that make sense to someone who is not a simulation specialist, and you can do it without making them feel like they should have known better
You manage multiple customer cases at once without dropping threads, forgetting commitments, or losing track of what matters most to each customer
You are comfortable learning new technical areas when the team or the customer need it, whether that is a new solver, a new physics domain, or a new AI-based workflow tool
You show up with energy and curiosity, and you treat customer success as your success, not just a ticket to close
You will be part of the Synopsys Customer Excellence team, a global group of engineers focused on making customers successful with Synopsys simulation software. The team works across time zones and technical domains, supporting customers through their toughest engineering challenges and helping drive adoption of Synopsys Structural Products. You will collaborate closely with colleagues who share your commitment to solving hard problems and delivering high-quality support.
