About the Role

Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned vessel’s technical operation and maintenance
- Monitor performance through monthly return reports and vessel inspections
- Plan regular and special surveys, repairs, and dry docking in advance
- Liaise with Master or Chief Engineer on maintenance program and operational matters
- Provide detailed operating budgets for maintenance, dry docking, and special surveys
- Control volume and prepare specifications for repairs given to outside workshops
- Maintain validity of class, international, national, and specific certificates
- Review effectiveness of company’s SMS system and discuss implementation during inspections
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
- 5 years sailing experience (Required)
- Willingness to travel 50% (Preferred)

Position Overview
- Monitoring assigned vessel’s technical operation and maintenance
- Monitoring performance through monthly return reports/vessel inspections
- Monitoring survey cycles, statutory survey requirements and carrying out important surveys physically onboard
Responsibilities
- Establish reasons for excessive/unusual wear and tear and develop means to control/rectify
- Plan regular and special surveys/repairs/dry docking in advance with max time and cost benefits
- Liaise with Master or Chief Engineer on vessel’s maintenance program and operational matters
- Inspect vessel’s under his charge
- Provide detailed operating budgets for maintenance dry docking and special survey
- Control volume and prepare specifications for repairs given to outside workshops/repairers
- Provide feedback on purchases and encourage ship staff to tackle same onboard
- Draw timely attention of principals to areas where costs might be expected
- Advise ships under control on budget as well as actual cost for technical items
- Reduce costs by motivating ship’s staff and improving cost awareness
- Maintain validity of class, international, national, and specific certificates
- Keep up to date on requirements/changes in statutory/class rules/development
