Make your mark as technical superintendent at our Abu Dhabi branch office by making the rolling forecast for project vessels repairs. Our technical superintendent will make sure that all work orders are up to date so that the maintenance cell can have the right information at the right time for long-term maintenance planning. You will be working from our Abu Dhabi office and will be part of our Middle East technical team. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the vessels by implementing and maintaining a safe, cost efficient and environmentally sound operation. You will be required to prepare dry-dockings and carry out regular inspections of the vessels to ensure compliance with regulations. It is essential for technical superintendent to have the ability to work in a planned and independent way. You must have an eye for detail, but you should certainly never lose sight of the bigger picture. Your responsibilities as a technical superintendent are: The primary focus of this role is the preparation, engineering, scoping, and work package development of repair and maintenance projects. Participation in project execution and attendance during repairs or dry-dockings is secondary and will be determined based on project complexity, business needs, and resource requirements. Lead the preparation and engineering of planned and unplanned maintenance, repair, modification, and docking projects across the fleet, ensuring all technical, operational, and commercial requirements are clearly defined prior to execution. Conduct vessel inspections and technical assessments to identify repair requirements, verify compliance with statutory, class, and company requirements, and develop optimized repair scopes and execution strategies. Develop tender-ready work packages, work orders, and technical specifications, including scope definitions, repair methodologies, material requirements, acceptance criteria, risk assessments, cost estimates, and schedule inputs. Coordinate project preparation activities between vessel teams, shipyards, suppliers, contractors, classification societies, OEMs, and internal stakeholders to ensure project readiness and successful execution. Act as the technical focal point during project preparation, providing technical support, troubleshooting, and specialist guidance to Fleet Teams and execution teams as required. Manage technical and commercial interfaces with shipyards and contractors, including planning assumptions, schedules, quotations, technical clarifications, tender evaluations, and scope alignment. Promote and embed Safety throughout project preparation and execution by applying Risk Assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Work Methods, Toolbox Talks, Yes-Scan principles, and visible safety leadership. Support and, where required, participate in repair and docking execution activities, monitoring safety, quality, progress, costs, and technical performance while ensuring adherence to the engineered scope and agreed objectives. Prepare and maintain project documentation and reporting, including scope development, project readiness reviews, technical evaluations, budgets, lessons learned, and stakeholder updates. Drive continuous improvement and standardization of docking, repair, and maintenance processes by collaborating with Planning, Cost Estimating, SHE-Q, Procurement, and other specialist disciplines. Maintain and actively promote Boskalis' SHEQ standards, NINA principles, and corporate values throughout all activities. Your qualities You can make your mark as technical superintendent engineer if you have: A vocational or higher vocational degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a similar technical discipline; Experience as a Technical Superintendent, Chief Engineer, Works Manager, Project Manager, Yard Manager, Repair Superintendent, or in a comparable technical role within the maritime, dredging, offshore, or ship repair industry; Experience preparing and executing dry-dockings, repair and maintenance projects; Strong technical knowledge of vessel machinery, systems and equipment; Experience working with shipyards, suppliers and contractors; Commercial awareness and the ability to balance operational requirements with cost-effective solutions; Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as SMMS; Knowledge of relevant safety, environmental and quality standards; A good command of written and spoken English; Willingness to travel regularly and irregular to vessels, shipyards and project locations worldwide.
