The Senior Technical Accountant is a senior-level accounting professional focused on results driven accounting.

This role can perform all core loan-level and non-loan-level accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and “life of a loan” accounting including funding, purchase, and interim servicing while dedicating primary focus to technical GAAP adjustments.

The Senior Technical Accountant supports mortgage loan accounting and servicing by analyzing daily and month reconciliations.

This position also prepares journal entries related to trading Securities, interest income accruals, and monthly mark-to-market valuation adjustments.

• Perform the full range of loan accounting duties, including recording fair value accounting entries related to Interest Rate Lock Commitments (IRLCs), Loans Held for Sale (LHFS), and Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSRs).
• Reconcile multiple systems to the general ledger; such as treasury, servicing, and loan origination system and resolve variances daily.
• Assist in design, testing and implementing automated accounting processes that support streaming accounting workflows, reduce manual effort and rework, improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and support a more efficient financial close.

• Technical Accounting Expertise: Demonstrates a strong understanding of GAAP accounting, mortgage accounting, and valuation methods.
• Review and Quality Focus: Can analyze data from various financial perspectives and articulate variances clearly.
• Mortgage Banking: Understands valuing stages of a loan, including lock, held for sale, and sold.
• Problem Solving: Effectively analyzes complex accounting issues, identifies root causes, and develops sound recommendations and solutions.
• Collaboration: Builds effective working relationships across the accounting team and with internal business partners.
• Continuous Improvement Mindset: Challenges inefficient processes constructively and seeks opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including substantial experience with mortgage accounting, month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, both loan level and non-loan level, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with various valuation methods.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage accounting, financial controls, and accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience working with accounting and financial systems, as well as LOS applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage complex assignments, exercise sound judgment, and work independently with limited direction.

The starting base salary r ange for this position is $90k - $110k .

The actual base is dependent on many factors such as: work experience, business needs, market demands, and other compensation components.

The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
