The Technical Manager – Tubular Running Services (TRS) provides technical leadership for remote-operated and automated tubular running solutions. The role connects Operations, the GeoZone Product Line, Global Product Line, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and customers to ensure equipment and services are fit for purpose, technically compliant, commercially viable, and delivered safely and reliably. This position serves as the regional TRS subject matter expert, supports complex job planning and field execution, develops technology and asset strategies, strengthens technical competency, and converts customer requirements into practical solutions that improve safety, connection integrity, operational efficiency, reliability, and business performance.
The Technical Manager – Tubular Running Services (TRS) provides technical leadership for remote-operated and automated tubular running solutions. The role connects Operations, the GeoZone Product Line, Global Product Line, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and customers to ensure equipment and services are fit for purpose, technically compliant, commercially viable, and delivered safely and reliably. This position serves as the regional TRS subject matter expert, supports complex job planning and field execution, develops technology and asset strategies, strengthens technical competency, and converts customer requirements into practical solutions that improve safety, connection integrity, operational efficiency, reliability, and business performance.
Provide technical leadership for remote-operated and automated TRS equipment and services.
Act as the technical focal point between Operations, GeoZone Product Line, Global Product Line, Engineering, Manufacturing, Repair and Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and customers.
Review customer requirements, well programs, rig interfaces, and project scopes to define safe, technically compliant, fit-for-purpose TRS solutions.
Lead or support technical planning and execution for complex, critical, and high-risk TRS operations.
Provide technical assurance during project readiness assessments, service quality planning, equipment selection, job design, pre-job reviews, field trials, commissioning, and critical operations.
Identify capability gaps, obsolescence risks, asset needs, standardization opportunities, and future technology requirements.
Develop equipment and technology deployment plans aligned with activity and financial forecasts.
Serve as the GeoZone conduit to the Global Product Line for product requirements, value propositions, market positioning, pricing input, product improvements, and commercialization of new technology.
Support technical tenders, bid clarifications, equipment compliance reviews, deviations, risk assessments, and customer presentations.
Partner with Sales and Operations during early customer engagement, project reviews, and performance reviews to resolve technical needs and communicate measurable value.
Coordinate R& D field trials, prototypes, validation, qualification, commissioning, and lessons learned, acting as the interface among field locations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and the Global Product Line.
Oversee technical competency requirements, assessments, training plans, and development of TRS engineers, specialists, technicians, and operational personnel.
Provide technical support for CPARs, quality investigations, management of change, technical deviations, reliability improvement, and prevention of recurrence.
Monitor technical and operational KPIs, equipment reliability, NPT, connection performance, technology adoption, and execution of improvement plans; provide concise analysis to leadership.
Travel to workshops, customer locations, and onshore or offshore wellsites as required to support surveys, audits, commissioning, troubleshooting, and critical operations.
Strong technical knowledge of TRS operations, equipment, technologies, tubular handling, connection integrity, and offshore rig interfaces.
Working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical power and distribution, electronics, instrumentation, sensors, PLC-based controls, industrial communications, HMIs, data acquisition, and automation.
Ability to read and review mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, wiring drawings, P&IDs, control narratives, signal lists, and interface documents.
Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, risk assessment, and technical decision-making capability.
Commercial awareness with the ability to translate technical capability into customer value, differentiated solutions, and sustainable business growth.
Clear written and verbal communication, technical presentation, stakeholder management, and customer-facing skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional work across Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&M, Supply Chain, Sales, and global technical teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
Typically 5-10 years of relevant oilfield services experience, including substantial technical experience in TRS, drilling equipment, tubular handling, rig systems, automation, or closely related technologies.
Demonstrated experience with multidisciplinary equipment integrating mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, and software systems.
Previous technical leadership, engineering, product-line, field-support, or project- execution responsibility is required.
Offshore and deepwater TRS experience is preferred.
Proven experience planning, supporting, or delivering offshore and deepwater TRS operations using mechanized, remote-operated, or automated systems.

Regular travel is required based on customer, workshop, project, field-trial, commissioning, and operational needs, including offshore travel where applicable.
