Role Overview

Technical Leadership and Delivery

• Own system design, code quality, and engineering standards for the squad.
• Lead scalable, reliable, and maintainable software implementation.
• Contribute hands-on to complex or high-impact codebase areas.
• Review code and guide architecture, testing, documentation, and observability.
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term system sustainability.

Team and Execution

• Lead, mentor, and support software engineers and enable their technical growth.
• Support onboarding and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Own deliverables from planning through production.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and stakeholders on technical solutions.
• Provide technical direction and act as the first escalation point for team challenges.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure production readiness, performance, and reliability of owned services.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-mortems.
• Improve development workflows, tooling, and team productivity.
• Use AI and automation where possible to improve engineering efficiency and product quality.

Key Skills

• Deep expertise in Laravel and PHP backend systems.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, testing, documentation, and observability.
• Understanding of large-scale, high-performance platforms, SQL or NoSQL, caching, and concurrency.
• Strategic and operational planning skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience with Scrum and Agile methodology.
• AWS or GCP, CI/CD, and containerized deployments are advantageous.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering high-traffic, mission-critical platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Open-source contributions or technical thought leadership are advantageous.
