Technical Design Manager

Job Description

Design and Technical Delivery

• Manage design deliverables, technical documentation, drawings, reports, tender packages, design reviews, value engineering, and technical coordination meetings.
• Monitor design-team progress and performance against schedule, cost, quality, and production requirements.
• Resolve technical challenges and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions.

People and Resource Management

• Develop resource plans, review staffing budgets and schedules, maintain appropriate staffing levels, and support temporary personnel requirements.
• Recruit, evaluate, develop, mentor, orient, and manage employees, including performance evaluations and corrective actions.

Standards and Quality

• Establish discipline standards and procedures, recommend process improvements, and promote quality improvement programs.
• Ensure design compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory frameworks, client requirements, and safety expectations.
• Promote digital engineering workflows, quality assurance, knowledge sharing, and standard policy development.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Attend design meetings, contribute design solutions, validate meeting minutes, present cross-discipline proposals, and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 20 years of design experience, including 10 years in technical coordination for site infrastructure and landscape projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of codes, standards, regulatory frameworks, and cross-functional communication.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, or similar tools.

Desired Skills

• Experience on infrastructure or large-scale Middle East projects and with government or semi-government clients.
• Working knowledge of BIM, Navisworks, or similar digital design platforms and project controls.
• PMP, RICS, PE, or equivalent certification and a KSA driving license are advantageous.
