Technical Advisor

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee / Guide: Provide expert guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
• Machine Setup and Adjustment: Oversee the setup and adjustment of envelope converting machines according to job specifications, including feeding, folding, gumming, and sealing mechanisms.
• Quality Control: Monitor machine operations during production to ensure envelopes meet quality standards, including folding, printing, gumming, and other attachments.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Assist in diagnosing and resolving mechanical malfunctions, quality issues, and operational difficulties.
• Production Optimization: Work with adjusters, operators, and other team members to optimize machine speed, efficiency, and minimize downtime during changeovers and production runs.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety procedures and regulations related to machine operation/maintenance.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of machine adjustments, maintenance, and repairs, and report production and quality metrics to supervisors.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements / work with the team to implement.
• Collaboration: Effectively communicate with team members / management across shifts and departments.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions

Job Requirements

• High School education or equivalent, with mathematics emphasis.
• Intermediate computer skills preferred.
• Operate with integrity and confidentiality.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational issues effectively.
• Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and train a team of adjusters.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to machine setup, adjustments, and quality control.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments and members of the organization.
• Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience as an Envelope Machine Adjuster / Team Lead in the Envelope industry with the ability to run multiple types of envelope machines. Track record in improving machine speeds to positively impact productivity.
• Mechanical Expertise: High degree of mechanical aptitude/experience on multiple envelope converting equipment.
• Teamwork: Requires ongoing coordination, communication and/or team problem solving between departments or functional areas for work production or service quality. Understands the team/department key performance measurements, goals, and action plans and actively participates in activities to reach those goals.
• Flexibility: Assists with shift coverage as needed.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

• Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, grasping, and reaching.
• Ability to perform a volume of mechanical detail work with speed and accuracy; manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry 50 lbs., push 100 lbs., pull 75 lbs.
• Exposure to noise; must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.
