Chief Atahm School is seeking a High School Teacher (0.4 FTE, with the potential for 0.60 FTE based on student enrolment)
Start Date: November 1, 2026
Chief Atahm School invites applications for a 0.4 FTE High School teaching position, with the possibility of increasing to 0.6 FTE depending on student enrolment in September. We are looking for a dynamic and creative educator with experience teaching and assessing students in a multi-grade Grade 7/8 classroom.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the BC Curriculum and skilled in inquiry-based teaching methods. They will work collaboratively as part of a team to plan and implement programs aligned with Chief Atahm School’s philosophy and principles.
Chief Atahm School is a parent-operated institution where staff, parents, and elders work together to provide a high-quality education grounded in our community’s vision and values. The school actively develops Secwepemc language and land-based learning resources and currently offers a robust outdoor education program that includes mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
Chief Atahm School is founded on the belief that a strong and healthy community is rooted in knowledge of Secwepemc language, traditional practices, and cultural values. Our goal is to prepare students to succeed in today’s world while empowering them to protect the earth for future generations.
This vision is reflected in the integration of traditional knowledge and practices across all grade levels throughout the school year. The program is supported by dedicated language and cultural resource people, as well as a teacher assistant.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative educator with excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to fostering parent and community involvement. The Intermediate teacher will also be expected to actively participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities.
