Role Overview
The Systems Software Engineer joins the Network Capture Services team to build and operate the firm's mission-critical network packet capture platform.
Capture data is used daily by trading, research, and support teams.
The role combines software development with systems and infrastructure work and is based at DRW's Chicago headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, deploy, and validate network capture servers across participating teams.
- Develop and maintain capture and query software in C++, Python, Rust, and Ruby.
- Build Ansible automation and deployment tooling for repeatable server provisioning.
- Participate in weekly production support, troubleshooting live issues, coordinating incident response, and monitoring proactively.
- Improve automation, monitoring, and capacity planning and onboard new capture deployments.
- Act as a liaison between Network Capture Services and infrastructure teams.
