The Space & Airborne (SAS) Center within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking talented Systems Reliability Engineer 1 who will focus on Reliability and Failure Investigation work products. The Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) SAS Department supports troubleshooting, resolving system-level failures, and driving reliability improvements across radar hardware and software programs.
Life Cycle Engineering optimizes product supportability, effectiveness, and efficiency across the entire lifecycle from design through production, sustainment, and field operations. LCE ensures Raytheon products remain dependable, operable, safe, and affordable. This is an onsite role in El Segundo, California.
What You Will Do:
Collect and analyze failure data to identify trends, root causes, and reliability issues
Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are defined
Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues
Ensure timely closure of failure reports and proper documentation of findings
Monitor reliability metrics and provide regular reports to stakeholders
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and performance
Ensure compliance with company standards and relevant industry regulations

After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a team supporting Systems Engineering, troubleshoot activities across the product development lifecycle, incorporating data analysis to help inform engineering activities and decisions.

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and experience
Support FRACAS activities by documenting failures, tracking corrective actions, and assisting with sustainment engineering tasks such as depot return reviews or repair coordination.
Assist in troubleshooting hardware or software issues, support qualification and test activities, and contribute to basic root‐cause analysis using structured methods.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with data analysis and automation tools (Microsoft Office, MATLAB, Python).
Exposure to various military platforms for weapons conveyance, such as ships, ground combat systems, fixed and rotary wing aircraft
Experience working with failure tracking systems
Root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)
Data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar)
Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-1547, or similar)
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
