Systems Engineer - Service Providers

Working model

• The role is designated Remote/Teleworker and is primarily home-based.
• The role is UK-based with regular customer engagement and collaboration across HPE.
• Travel within the UK and occasional international travel is required.

Job description

Key responsibilities

• Own technical sales strategies and account plans for assigned customers.
• Discover customer requirements and translate them into architectures and value propositions.
• Design and propose HPE Networking solutions across routing, switching, security, automation, assurance, and cloud operations.
• Lead presentations, workshops, demonstrations, evaluations, and proofs of concept.
• Build relationships with technical decision-makers, architects, operations teams, procurement stakeholders, and partners.
• Lead RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses, including designs, bills of materials, risks, and technical validation.
• Coordinate specialists and internal resources across HPE.
• Maintain opportunity information, identify risks, and support the full sales cycle.

Qualifications and experience

• Typically 6+ years of relevant service provider network experience or equivalent depth of experience.
• Expert-level IP routing knowledge with strong MPLS and segment routing expertise.
• Hands-on service provider routing capability and experience designing resilient, scalable solutions.
• Ability to build demonstrations or proofs of concept and communicate complex architecture choices clearly.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and whiteboarding skills.
• A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent practical experience is preferred, not mandatory.

Technical skills

• Adjacent experience may include data centre switching, network security, automation, virtualization, cloud networking, observability, or assurance.
• Desirable automation and programmability technologies include Python, Ansible, NETCONF, YANG, REST APIs, JSON, and OpenConfig.
• Knowledge of HPE Networking products, competitive platforms, service provider security, DDoS protection, or zero-trust principles is advantageous.
