Role Overview

Provide setting-out, control, monitoring, and as-built survey support to the civil works construction team.

Ensure construction works are positioned, aligned, and leveled according to approved drawings and design data.

Setting-Out and Survey Control

  • Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids across the site and alignment.
  • Set out alignments, levels, gridlines, and reference points for earthworks, structures, drainage, depot, and online buildings.
  • Conduct topographic, cross-section, volume, and quantity surveys for construction planning and progress measurement.
  • Verify contractor survey team setting-out before construction of key elements.

As-Built Verification and Monitoring

  • Perform as-built surveys to verify that constructed works conform to approved designs and specified tolerances.
  • Prepare and issue as-built drawings and survey records for QA/QC verification and handover documentation.
  • Support settlement, deformation, and alignment monitoring for structures, earthworks, and track-related works.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Process and manage survey data using relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent.
  • Maintain coordinate registers, survey records, field books, calculation sheets, and instrument logs.
  • Prepare survey reports and progress or quantity records for project management, QA/QC, and commercial teams.

Coordination and Compliance

  • Coordinate setting-out, verification, and monitoring activities with site engineers, QA/QC teams, and contractor survey teams.
  • Ensure survey work complies with project specifications, coordinate systems, datums, and applicable standards.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and care for survey instruments and report defects or calibration issues.
  • Support investigation and resolution of survey queries, discrepancies, and non-conformances.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five to eight years of construction or site surveying experience, including setting-out and as-built survey work.
  • Proficiency with total stations, GNSS/GPS, levels, and survey or CAD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Middle East or UAE experience is highly advantageous.
  • Rail or major infrastructure project experience is preferable.

Education

  • Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Onboarding Requirement

  • Newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.
