Your Opportunity Our Markham office has an opportunity for an entry-level Survey Technician within our Geospatial Group. The Earth is top of mind for our Geospatial team. Your Key Responsibilities - Perform surveying tasks using GNSS survey instruments, digital levels, 3D laser scanners, and conventional survey equipment. - Assist the Survey Party Chief with tasks related to surveying and construction layout. - Assisting in the preparation of field notes/sketches and completing field data downloads and uploads. - Maintaining field equipment and vehicles. - Communicate effectively with members of the team and follow standard procedures. - Responsible for maintaining field equipment and vehicles. - Responsible for safe operation of tools and equipment, complying with OHSA and Stantec’s HSSE policies. - Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. - Technical and mathematical skills along with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting survey equipment with a weight of up to 50 lbs.) in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions. - Valid driver's license and a good driving record with the ability to travel across southwestern Ontario with occasional overnight stays. Education and Experience - Post-secondary education in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. - Previous experience working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey equipment, laser scanners, and digital levels is considered a significant asset.
