Responsibilities
- Evaluate workload, critical project priorities, and deadlines to schedule and assign work
- Serve as principal professional and technical advisor for facilities engineering services and management
- Analyze production and validate metrics based on actual production and associated expenses
- Review concept designs and develop program requirements for full designs and Design Build RFP
- Ensure all facilities engineering services are effective, efficient, and accomplished within performance criteria
- Capture lessons learned and develop process improvements
- Track Design In Place accrual and Budget Allocation expenditures
- Provide advice and recommendations concerning architectural and engineering methods and systems
Requirements
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS 13
- Experience developing designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for engineering projects
- Experience reviewing designs by consultants and in house staff
- Experience providing supervision and technical direction for complex projects
- Experience coordinating with high level officials on program and financial management
- Experience implementing performance control and achievement monitoring
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture (or equivalent)

Summary
- You will serve as a Design Production Director in the Planning, Design and Construction Directorate of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID ATLANTIC.
Duties
- Evaluate workload, critical project priorities, and deadlines to schedule and assign the work.
- Serve as a principle professional and technical advisor for facilities engineering services and management.
- Analyze the production and validate metrics based on actual production and associated expenses.
- Review concept designs and develop program requirements in support of both full designs of Design Bid Build and Design Build Request for Proposal.
- Ensure all facilities engineering services are effective, efficient, and accomplished within performance criteria.
- Capture lessons learned and develop process improvements.
- Track Design In Place accrual and Budget Allocation expenditures compared to projections.
- Provide advice and recommendations concerning architectural and engineering methods and systems.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) in a State, DC, Puerto Rico, or US territory.
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS 13 grade level.
- Experience developing designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for engineering projects.
- Experience reviewing designs by consultants and in house staff for accuracy, compliance, and safety.
- Experience providing supervision, technical input, and direction for complex projects.
- Experience coordinating with high level officials on program and financial management issues.
- Experience implementing performance control and achievement monitoring.
Education
- Successful completion of a professional engineering degree (ABET accredited) or architecture degree.
- Alternative: registration as Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or PE.
- Alternative: passing Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
- Alternative: 60 semester hours in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences.
- Alternative: bachelor's degree in related scientific field with one year professional engineering experience.
