Kent is looking for an Instrumentation, Control and Telecom Supervisor to join our Engineering team in Sarnia, Ontario.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position provides technical leadership and supervision to a team of Instrumentation, Control and Telecommunications (ICT) designers and engineers supporting major energy and industrial projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating project deliverables, ensuring technical quality, supporting project execution, and mentoring team members while maintaining compliance with client requirements, applicable codes, and Kent’s HSSEQ standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Instrumentation, Control and Telecom designers and engineers.
- Plan, prioritize, and allocate resources to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
- Work as I&C and Telecom Discipline Lead to deliver the FEED and detailed engineering scope.
- Develop, Review and approve instrumentation and control engineering deliverables, including:
- Instrument Indexes
• Instrument Data Sheets
- I/O Lists
- Cable Schedules
- Loop Drawings
- Hook-up Drawings
- Wiring Diagrams
• Control System Architecture Drawings
- Control narratives and cause & effect diagrams
• Telecom System Layouts
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with client specifications, industry standards, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, and Project Management teams to ensure multidisciplinary integration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other I&C/Telecom Leads, junior and intermediate team members.
- Support proposal development, estimating, resource planning, and project execution strategies.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and client meetings.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify technical or schedule risks.
- Review vendor documentation and support procurement activities for instrumentation and telecom equipment.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
- Foster a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with Kent’s HSSEQ requirements.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.
These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge And Qualification And Training And Certification
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
- Minimum 15+ years of Instrumentation and Control engineering experience within the oil & gas, energy, petrochemical, LNG, mining, or industrial sectors.
- Previous experience supervising or leading I&C/Telecom engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of instrumentation design principles, control systems, industrial communications, and telecommunications systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable CSA, ISA, IEC, NEC/CEC, and client engineering standards.
- Experience with engineering design software and document management systems.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize and support several projects concurrently while maintaining quality and responsiveness.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
- Understand and follow Kent policies and KMS requirements.

Compensation
Hourly Range: $75.00/hr to $80.00/hr
The hourly range reflects the expected compensation for this role and may vary based on skills, experience, and qualification.
