Supervisor, Laboratory Services

Reporting to the Manager, Laboratory Medicine, the Laboratory Supervisor will assist is monitoring the quality of laboratory testing by observing the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency and safety according to the established procedures and policies (IQMH Standards). The supervisor maintains open communication with the Director/Manager of Laboratory Medicine, staff in other department and nursing areas. The supervisor maintains and updates procedure manuals, training material and continuous quality improvements in the pre-analytical and other laboratory areas as required. The position shall provide direct supervision to laboratory technicians and RPNs to ensure adherence to the above standards. The supervisor acts as a quality resource and leaderfor the department of laboratory medicine. The position may include a cross-appointment to the Operational Excellence and Sustainability Department (OpX).

- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program. - Active registration with the CMLTO (General MLT). - University Degree or Advanced certification or equivalent preferred. QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum five years clinical experience in laboratory, preferred, with demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge in problem solving and troubleshooting - Excellent ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize. - Good attendance and work record required - Supervisory experience preferred. - LIS knowledge/expertise prefered - Experience with regulatory standards and quality programs. - Experience with Lean methodology, quality improvement and risk management, an asset. - Demonstrate interest in continuing personal and professional growth. - Mature responsible judgment. - Self-motivated with the ability to guide and motivate staff - Ability to lead work well in cooperation with co-workers and other departments. - Flexibility and willingness to work as part of team - All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN) [formerly Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH)] agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario. - All employees of MGH are responsible to contribute to a transparent culture of patient and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by MGH. - All employees are accountable for protecting the psychological health and safety of themselves and their co-workers through adherence to MGH's policies and practices.
