What you will be doing

As a Joiner Supervisor, you will lead , coach and develop the Production team to achieve high standards of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and operational performance. You will support operators in delivering the build plan by ensuring schedule commitments and cost targets are met, while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement. Through effective leadership , performance management and problem-solving, you will drive efficiency, enhance team capability and identify opportunities to improve processes, ensuring a safe, productive and high-quality working environment.

Core duties

  • Continually deliver an improvement of SHE in all its forms
  • Daily progressing of detailed plans (CPI/SPI)
  • Daily management of work orders and earned value process
  • Continuous improvement by reduction of non-conformance
  • Financial awareness including control of overhead accounts (tools, consumables, waste, sickness, absence)
  • Line management responsibility of the team’s time and attendance, daily performance, career progression through effective coaching and support

Essential skills

  • Proven leadership/team management experience
  • You’ll have a clear understanding of SHE risk awareness
  • You’ll have a clear understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards
  • You’ll have the ability to understand and implement improvement actions arising from the analysis of key performance indicators
  • You’ll have effective communication and practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with others and resolve operational challenges .

The Type 26 Production team

BAE Systems designs and builds world-class naval ships, and our Supervisors play a key role in delivering the Type 26 frigates. Leading teams of Production employees, you will coach, support and develop your team to achieve high standards of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and productivity. Working closely with operators and stakeholders, you will ensure build plan targets are met, drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture that contributes to the successful delivery of critical defence programmes.
