Supermarket Accountant

About the Role

Financial Accounting

• Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Process invoices, receipts, payments, and credit notes accurately.
• Reconcile bank statements and cash balances on time.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly and quarterly profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Report on sales, inventory costs, and expenses.

VAT Compliance

• Ensure financial transactions comply with UAE VAT laws.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Maintain VAT documentation and assist during audits.

Inventory and Cost Control

• Monitor inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost of goods sold.
• Assist with periodic inventory audits to minimize discrepancies and losses.
• Analyze vendor pricing, discounts, and credit terms to optimize costs.

Payroll and Audit

• Process monthly payroll, employee reimbursements, and petty cash accounts.
• Support external auditors with financial data and documentation.
• Implement internal controls and ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Retail or FMCG experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP accounting systems.
• Strong knowledge of UAE VAT laws, bank reconciliation, and cost control.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.
