The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance & Engineering, the Superintendent, Operations & Maintenance Projects is responsible for planning and executing operational, maintenance, infrastructure, and capital projects at Kidd Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the Internal Responsibility System and ensure employees and contractors meet Kidd Operations’ health, safety, environment, and community objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the project and technical teams while establishing clear expectations for safety, productivity, work quality, conduct, and internal customer service.
  • Manage operational and maintenance projects from scope development through engineering, execution, commissioning, and handover.
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and contractors to develop practical project plans that support safe and reliable production.
  • Establish/maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plan, risk register, execution strategies.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets, identify variances, and implement recovery plans when required.
  • Ensure changes to project scope, schedule, or cost are documented, reviewed, and approved through the management-of-change process.
  • Coordinate project work with production and maintenance schedules to minimize operational disruption and use resources effectively.
  • Provide regular project updates, including progress, forecast costs, schedule status, risks, constraints.
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and execution challenges that could affect project delivery.
  • Support equipment reliability and operational improvement through root-cause analysis, failure reviews, and modifications to equipment or maintenance strategies.
  • Manage contractors and ensure their work meets Kidd Operations’ safety, quality, schedule, and cost expectations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in engineering or a technologist/technician diploma is preferred.
  • Extensive maintenance and/or operational experience in place of formal education will also be considered.
  • Three years of relevant experience in mining, maintenance, operations, engineering, or project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience planning/executing operational, maintenance, infrastructure, or capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, including scope, schedule, cost management, forecasting, risk management, and management of change.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate contractors, and work effectively across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and other supporting departments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CMMS, project scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package including:

  • Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
  • Annual compensation of CAD$122,000 to CAD$153,000
