- Maintain classroom equipment, supplies, and student records such as instructional materials, meal counts, attendance, and fire safety checklists.
- Monitor students in classroom, playground, field trips, and nap times to provide a safe learning environment.
- Provide set up and service of meals and snacks to meet nutritional needs of students.
- Assist other personnel as required to ensure an efficient work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current pediatric CPR/first aid certificate
- Current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card
- Valid driver's license and required auto insurance
- Reliable personal transportation
- Proof of Mantoux TB testing or immunity
- Proof of MMR immunization or immunity
- Washington State DCYF portable background check clearance
- Job related experience with is desired

Purpose Statement
- The job of substitute ECEAP assistant teacher/teacher is done for the purposes of providing quality, comprehensive child development services to preschool children and their families and encouraging parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities. This position will
Functions
- Acts as a support and resource person for families for the purpose of assisting the teacher in case managing specific needs with families, advocating for parents, and encouraging parent involvement in the program.
- Maintains classroom equipment, supplies, student records, (e.g. instructional materials, meal counts, attendance, fire safety checklist, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing reliable information, and/or ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, nap times, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Provides set up and service of meals and snacks for the purpose of meeting nutritional needs of students.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- SKILLS: applying pertinent policies, regulations and/or laws, planning and managing activities, preparing and maintaining accurate records, and operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications.
- KNOWLEDGE: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws, age appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, community resources, and stages of child development.
- ABILITY: communicating with diverse groups, working with frequent interruptions, working as part of a team, adapting to changing work priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and having regular and reliable attendance.
Experience
- Job related experience with is desired.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Certificates & Licenses
- Maintain a current pediatric CPR/first aid certificate (at employee’s expense)
- Maintain a current Washington State Department of Health Food Worker Card (at employee’s expense)
- Valid driver's license and required auto insurance
- Reliable personal transportation
Clearances
- Provide proof of Mantoux Tuberculosis (TB) testing, treatment or immunity pursuant to WAC 110 300 0105(3).
- Provide proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunization or proof of immunity in accordance RCW 43.216.690.
- Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) portable background check clearance (no cost).
- WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance (if needed at employee's expense).
Continuing Education/Training
- Must complete mandatory training provided by NEWESD 101
