The Auburn University Bee Center is looking to hire an undergraduate student for a honey bee or native bee technician position.

The new hire will assist with bee-related research mainly outdoors under typical (hot and humid) Alabama conditions although some laboratory work is also expected.

The technician will encounter stinging insects.

An interest in insects/plants is preferred.

The new hire should have an eagerness to learn new skills and the ability to work in often difficult physical environments.

  • Travel to field sites around Alabama
  • Assist with field work including plant surveys & sweep netting
  • Process insect specimens for pinning
  • Assist w/beekeeping tasks such as hive management
  • Build and maintain honey bee boxes
  • Collect/Enter data into spreadsheets
  • Enrolled student at Auburn University
  • Interest in Entomology or related discipline
  • Interest in plant and insect ID
