Description
The Division of Student Affairs is seeking to hire one Student Assistant to support the Opportunity Youth Adult (OYA) Workforce. The OYA Workforce Development Intern supports key workforce development and experiential learning initiatives within the Career Center. Under the supervision of the Lead Internship/Employer Relations Coordinator, the intern will assist with the Opportunity Youth Adult (OYA) eWorks: Career Leagues Program and work-based learning internships in public service, health and other fields such as the Instructional Related Activities (IRA) Internships. This role provides hands-on experience in program coordination, work-based learning, student engagement, and employer relations. Interns will gain exposure to how career development programs are designed, implemented, and evaluated while building transferable professional skills in communication, organization, and project management
Requirements
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.
- UEI is not a multi-state employer. UEI only employs candidates who live and work in the state of California. If selected for the position you must reside in California and all work must be performed in the state of California throughout the course of employment.
- Prerequisites
- Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
- Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.

- Work Schedule
- F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday – Friday, between 7 AM – 5:00 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
- Additional Work Schedule
- Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per workweek (Monday– Friday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
- Compensation
- $18.00 per hour.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
- Interest in career services, workforce development, or student engagement
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace;
- Familiarity with social media platforms preferred
- Reliable, professional, and eager to learn
- Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Student in Counseling, Educational Leadership or related field.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing workshops, trainings, and program events.
- Support event logistics, including scheduling, material preparation, setup, check-in, troubleshooting, and breakdown.
- Help ensure events and activities run smoothly and align with program goals.
- Coordinate with staff to track timelines and deliverables for events and initiatives.
- Support communication with students, alumni, staff, employers, and community partners.
- Assist with drafting emails, announcements, and program updates.
- Respond to general inquiries and provide information about OYA and internship programs.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with program participants and partners.
- Assist with workforce development initiatives focused on career readiness and experiential learning.
- Help connect students to internships, workshops, and employment opportunities.
- Support staff in delivering work-based learning programming and student engagement efforts including CalJOBS tracking of program support.
- Contribute to program improvement through feedback and observations.
- Maintain and update tracking systems related to student participation, engagement, and outcomes.
- Assist with data entry, reporting, and program evaluation.
- Learn and use systems such as Handshake or other platforms for tracking and communication.
- Ensure accuracy and organization of program records and documentation.
- Assist with outreach efforts to increase awareness and participation in OYA and internship programs using Handshake and other platforms.
- Support the creation and distribution of marketing materials (flyers, emails, digital content).
- Represent programs at outreach events, tabling, and campus activities.
- Contribute ideas to improve outreach strategies and student engagement.
- Assist with managing social media accounts.
- Create and schedule posts promoting events, opportunities, and program highlights on Handshake and other platforms.
- Ensure content aligns with departmental branding and communication standards.
- Monitor engagement and support basic analytics tracking.
- Collaborate with Career Center staff and student team members.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding assignments, timelines, and progress.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and initiative.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Provide general data and administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned.
- Support cross-functional Career Center initiatives as needed.
- Adapt to changing priorities and provide support where needed.
- Physical Requirements
- Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
