Role overview

Parsons is seeking a Structural Inspector to supervise and inspect structural works related to an infrastructure project in Dubai, UAE.

What you will do

  • Inspect work to determine whether it complies with contract specifications.
  • Inspect demolition and construction of reservoirs, lifting stations, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges, substations, pools, and other structural elements.
  • Maintain project files, calculate quantities, write daily diaries, and prepare contract-required reports.
  • Verify approved materials, maintain as-built plans, and collect compliance certificates, safety data sheets, and inspection tags.
  • Identify conflicts and problems, advise the supervisor on solutions, and document nonconformance and resolutions.
  • Report installed quantities for payment applications and change-order work.
  • Coordinate surveying and material-testing subconsultants.
  • Support safety practices, quality-control procedures, emergency callbacks, and technical guidance for lower-level inspectors.

Required skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, a related field, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of regional experience as a structural inspector.
  • Knowledge of public works contracts, construction processes, plans, specifications, scheduling, and engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management software, and internet search tools.
  • Ability to prepare diaries and reports, review pay estimates and extra work bills, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous conditions, follow instructions, manage time, and work effectively in a team.

Desired qualifications

  • Authority certification or approvals in a related field and HSE training are advantageous.
  • Construction safety training, including 10 hours of OSHA training, is desired.

Work setting

  • The role involves inspections and emergency callbacks at the project site and requires awareness of public safety.
