Role Overview
Perform on-site structural inspections of bridge and tunnel works on behalf of the Consultant under a FIDIC contract.
Ensure contractor works comply with contract documents, approved drawings, project specifications, RTA/Dubai Municipality standards, and applicable international codes.
Support the Structural Engineer and ARE in maintaining quality, safety, and contract compliance across the structural scope.
Bridge Inspections
- Inspect bored piles, barrettes, pile caps, pier columns, and abutments, including reinforcement placement, cover, lap lengths, and couplers.
- Witness pile integrity testing, including PIT and CSL, and static or dynamic load tests.
- Inspect formwork stability, alignment, and tolerances before concrete pour approval.
- Witness concrete pours, sampling, slump tests, and temperature monitoring for mass concrete elements.
- Inspect precast segmental box girders, I-girders, and U-girders during fabrication, transportation, and erection.
- Inspect post-tensioning duct installation, strand threading, stressing, elongation checks, grouting, and anchor block protection.
- Verify bearing installation, alignment, levels, and pre-setting against design requirements.
- Inspect deck slabs, stitch pours, parapets, crash barriers, waterproofing, asphalt overlays, expansion joints, and drainage components.
Applicable Standards
- Apply ACI, AASHTO LRFD, BS, Eurocodes, and ITA guidelines as applicable to the structural inspection scope.
