Structural Inspector (Infrastructure & Bridges)

Job Description

Bridge Inspections

• Inspect pile foundations, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, and foundation testing.
• Inspect precast and erected bridge girders, post-tensioning, bearings, deck slabs, parapets, barriers, waterproofing, joints, and drainage.
• Verify bridge construction against approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable standards.

Tunnel Inspections

• Inspect tunnel excavation, diaphragm walls, secant pile walls, underpinning, TBM operations, segment geometry, and annular grouting.
• Inspect shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, steel ribs, ground movement, convergence, and instrumentation data.
• Inspect secondary lining, waterproofing, construction joints, water stops, injection systems, cross passages, shafts, and emergency exits.

Quality and Testing

• Review inspection requests and witness pre-pour checks, concrete pours, acceptance testing, and non-destructive testing.
• Verify survey setting-out, levels, alignment, camber, tunnel geometry, tolerances, material deliveries, certificates, and batch records.
• Raise non-conformance and site observation reports and track corrective actions to completion.

HSE and Authority Coordination

• Enforce HSE requirements for heavy lifts, post-tensioning, work at height, confined spaces, gas monitoring, and tunnel evacuation.
• Stop unsafe activities and escalate them to the Structural Engineer or ARE.
• Support inspections and approvals with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other authorities.

Reporting and Records

• Maintain daily inspection records, photographic logs, and as-built documentation through Aconex or ProjectWise.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports and support snagging, de-snagging, taking-over, and defects-liability inspections.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of structural inspection experience on bridge and tunnel projects.
• Minimum 4 years of UAE or GCC experience on RTA, metro, or comparable authority projects.
• Strong technical reading of structural, shop, post-tensioning, segmental lining, and waterproofing drawings.
• Familiarity with TBM operations, ring build geometry, and shotcrete or SCL methodologies.
• Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD Viewer.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred and Working Conditions

• RTA or Dubai Municipality Inspector Engineer approval is highly preferred.
• A valid UAE driving license is preferred.
• The inspector must be able to work underground, in confined spaces, on rotating shifts, and during night works.
• The role requires integrity, impartiality, professionalism, and strong reporting and stakeholder coordination.
