Structural Inspector (Infrastructure & Bridges)

Role Overview

Bridge Inspections

• Inspect pile foundations, pile caps, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, and foundation testing.
• Inspect precast girders during fabrication, transport, and erection, including post-tensioning and bearing installation.
• Inspect deck slabs, stitch pours, parapets, crash barriers, waterproofing, expansion joints, drainage, and deck furniture.

Tunnel Inspections

• Inspect cut-and-cover excavation, diaphragm walls, secant piles, underpinning, TBM operations, segment delivery, ring geometry, and annular grouting.
• Inspect shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, steel ribs, ground movement, convergence, and instrumentation data.
• Inspect secondary lining, reinforcement, formwork, concrete, waterproofing membranes, joints, water stops, injection hoses, cross passages, and emergency structures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of structural inspection experience.
• Extensive bridge and tunnel inspection experience.

Quality and Testing

• Review inspection requests and witness pre-pour checks, concrete pours, and acceptance testing in accordance with ITPs.
• Witness UPV, rebound hammer, half-cell potential, GPR, and concrete cube or cylinder testing.
• Verify survey setting-out, levels, alignment, camber, tunnel geometry, and tolerances against IFC drawings.
• Raise NCRs and site observation reports and track close-out actions.

HSE and Authority Coordination

• Enforce the project HSE plan during inspections, including requirements for heavy lifts, post-tensioning, work at height, confined spaces, gas monitoring, and tunnel evacuation.
• Stop unsafe activities and escalate them to the Structural Engineer or ARE.
• Support coordination with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other authorities.
