Structural Inspector (Infrastructure & Bridges)

Role Overview

Bridge Inspections

• Inspect pile foundations, pile caps, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, and testing.
• Inspect girders during fabrication, transport, and erection.
• Witness post-tensioning, verify bearings, and inspect decks, barriers, waterproofing, expansion joints, and drainage components.

Tunnel Inspections

• Inspect excavation, diaphragm and secant pile walls, underpinning, TBM operations, segment geometry, and annular grouting.
• Inspect shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, steel ribs, ground movement, convergence readings, and instrumentation data.
• Inspect secondary lining, reinforcement, formwork, waterproofing, construction joints, water stops, cross passages, shafts, and emergency exits.

Quality and Testing

• Review inspection requests and witness pre-pour checks, concrete pours, acceptance testing, NDT, and concrete cube or cylinder testing.
• Verify survey setting-out, levels, alignment, camber, tunnel geometry, and tolerances against IFC drawings.
• Raise non-conformance and site observation reports and track close-out actions.
• Review material deliveries, mill certificates, and batch records against approved submittals.

HSE and Coordination

• Enforce HSE requirements for heavy lifts, post-tensioning, work at height, confined spaces, gas monitoring, and tunnel evacuation.
• Stop unsafe activities and escalate them to the Structural Engineer or ARE.
• Support coordination with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other authorities.

Reporting

• Maintain daily inspection records, photographic logs, and as-built documentation through Aconex or ProjectWise.
• Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and support snagging, de-snagging, taking-over, and defects-liability inspections.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with extensive bridge and tunnel inspection experience.
• At least 8 years of structural inspection experience on both bridge and tunnel projects.
• At least 4 years of UAE/GCC experience on RTA, metro, or comparable authority projects.
• Strong technical reading of structural, shop, post-tensioning, segmental lining, and waterproofing drawings.
• Familiarity with TBM operations, ring build geometry, and shotcrete/SCL methodologies.
• Fluent written and spoken English and proficiency in MS Office with working knowledge of an AutoCAD viewer.
• Ability to work underground, in confined spaces, on rotating shifts, and during night works.

Preferred Qualifications

• RTA or Dubai Municipality approval as an Inspector Engineer is highly preferred.
• A valid UAE driving license is preferred.

Work Environment

• The role is field-based in Dubai and includes underground, confined-space, rotating-shift, and night work.
