Job Description

Bridge Inspections

• Inspect pile foundations, pile caps, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, and pile integrity and load testing.
• Inspect precast and in-situ bridge superstructure elements during fabrication, transportation, erection, and installation.
• Witness post-tensioning, grouting, bearing installation, deck pours, parapets, crash barriers, waterproofing, expansion joints, and drainage works.

Tunnel Inspections

• Inspect tunnel excavation, diaphragm and secant pile walls, underpinning, TBM operations, segment geometry, and annular grouting.
• Inspect shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, steel ribs, ground movement, convergence readings, and instrumentation data.
• Inspect secondary lining, reinforcement, formwork, concrete pours, waterproofing membranes, construction joints, water stops, and post-grouting.

Quality Control and Testing

• Review inspection requests and witness pre-pour checks, concrete pours, acceptance testing, and inspection and test plan activities.
• Witness non-destructive testing, concrete cube or cylinder testing, and verify survey setting-out, levels, alignment, camber, geometry, and tolerances.
• Raise non-conformance and site observation reports, track close-out actions, and review material deliveries, certificates, and batch records.

HSE and Authority Coordination

• Enforce the project HSE plan during inspections, including controls for heavy lifts, post-tensioning, work at height, confined spaces, gas monitoring, and tunnel evacuation.
• Stop unsafe activities and escalate immediately to the Structural Engineer or ARE.
• Support coordination with RTA, Dubai Municipality, DEWA, and other authorities during joint inspections and approvals.

Reporting and Records

• Maintain daily inspection records, photographic logs, and as-built documentation through Aconex or ProjectWise.
• Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports and support snagging, de-snagging, taking-over inspections, and defects-liability inspections.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering with extensive bridge and tunnel inspection experience.
• Minimum 8 years of structural inspection experience.
• Knowledge of applicable project standards and structural codes, including ACI, AASHTO LRFD, BS, Eurocodes, and ITA guidelines.
