Structural Bridge Engineer I/II – Any DJ&A Office Location

Our team of more than 180 professionals works across the country to deliver a diverse range of engineering, environmental, survey, mapping, landscape architecture, and planning projects for federal, state, local, tribal, and private clientele.
• DJ&A is seeking a full-time Structural Bridge Engineer I/II with two to five years of relevant experience in bridge design, analysis, inspection, or load rating. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career engineer who is ready to take on greater bridge design and analysis responsibility while working toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, under the mentorship of senior bridge engineers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform structural analysis and design calculations for bridge design, rehabilitation, and replacement projects under the guidance of senior bridge engineers.
• Assist with bridge inspection, condition evaluation, and load rating tasks, as needed.
• Prepare and review bridge structural drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and bridge design software (e.g., OpenBridge, BrR, LEAP, Mathcad, or BRASS).
• Apply AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and applicable state and federal bridge design criteria, with guidance from senior staff.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — roadway, hydraulics, geotechnical, survey, environmental, and construction — to develop practical, constructible bridge solutions.
