Role Context
SYSTRA is seeking a highly experienced Structural Engineer to provide technical oversight across multiple railway and metro projects in Saudi Arabia.
The role focuses on planning, reviewing, and coordinating structural design for major transportation infrastructure.
The engineer will support the Client in overseeing consultants and stakeholders and ensuring technically robust, compliant, and coordinated designs.
Main Duties
- Act as a key technical representative for structural matters across a portfolio of rail and metro projects.
- Review structural design submissions, monitor design development, support technical decisions, and maintain engineering quality across projects.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, authorities, and civil, architectural, geotechnical, MEP, systems, and construction teams.
- Support risk assessment, technical issue resolution, design reviews, workshops, technical meetings, value engineering, and design assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide structural engineering design oversight within the Client’s office across multiple railway projects.
- Review structural deliverables for completeness, accuracy, coordination, and compliance.
- Monitor design development for stations, viaducts, bridges, depots, retaining walls, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, international codes, local regulations, and authority standards.
- Identify design risks, technical gaps, and interface issues and support timely resolution.
- Prepare technical comments, review reports, engineering memoranda, and presentation materials.
Profile and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant structural engineering design and design review experience.
- Strong structural engineering design consultancy background.
- Extensive railway and/or metro project experience is mandatory.
- Experience on major transportation infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders and interfaces.
- Gulf and/or Saudi Arabia experience is required.
- Strong understanding of structural design standards, engineering coordination, and technical review.
