About the Role
Pyxis is seeking a Structural Design Engineer with 5+ years of experience in structural design for signage, steel structures, or events in the UAE. The role involves producing steel and civil designs, performing structural calculations using STAAD.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and commercial teams during pitching phase to provide technical feasibility assessments and preliminary member sizing
- Translate design concepts into framework with steel structures
- Establish Scope of Work for procurement
- Produce comprehensive Steel & Civil Design, including detailed connection designs and anchoring design
- Perform comprehensive structural calculations for outdoor media assets using Staad Pro
- Independently design structural frames for exhibition stands and event activations
- Develop and verify complex steel to steel and base plate connections using IDEA StatiCa
- Produce detailed foundation designs and drawings using CSI SAFE
- Perform pile capacity analysis and design using AllPile
- Review structural calculation reports for NOC submissions to authorities
- Conduct site visits to verify soil conditions and inspect reinforcement
- Review design and connection elements based on actual site and finalize As Built Drawings
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in structural design, specifically within the signage, steel structures, or events industry in the UAE
- Advanced proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS
- Expert knowledge of IDEA StatiCa for advanced steel connection modeling
- High proficiency in CSI SAFE for mat and isolated footings
- Proficiency in AllPile, LPILE, or equivalent pile analysis software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD to review and direct draughtsmen
- Deep understanding of AISC, Eurocodes, and ASCE (Wind Load analysis)

Pitching
- Collaborate with the design and commercial teams during the pitching phase to provide technical feasibility assessments and preliminary member sizing to assist in accurate costing.
- Decide Materials and grades for cost check.
Planning
- Translate design concepts into framework with steel structures.
- Establish Scope of Work for procurement
- Initial design reviews and offer technical support to resolve any issues.
Delivery
- Produce comprehensive Steel & Civil Design, including detailed connection designs, Anchoring design etc
- Perform comprehensive structural calculations for outdoor media assets including pylons, unipole billboards, and temporary/permanent hoardings using Staad Pro
- Independently design structural frames for exhibition stands and event activations, ensuring safety for high occupancy public spaces.
- Develop and verify complex steel to steel and base plate connections using IDEA StatiCa to ensure structural integrity and optimization of material use.
- Produce detailed foundation designs and drawings using CSI SAFE. Perform pile capacity analysis and design using AllPile (or similar geotechnical software) for large scale signage structures.
- Review structural calculation reports for NOC submissions to authorities such as Dubai Municipality and various other Authorities.
- Ensure that all technical drawings meet internal quality standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct site visits to verify soil conditions, inspect reinforcement for foundations/piles, and ensure that on site fabrication and installation align with approved structural drawings.
- Ensure that all documentation, including final Design files, material specifications, and installation drawings, are up to date and ready for use.
Post Project
- Review design and connection elements based on actual site Finalize As Built Drawings following installation to reflect any site specific adjustments made during the construction phase.
Education/ Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience in structural design, specifically within the signage, steel structures, or events industry in the UAE.
Knowledge
- Advanced proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS.
- Expert knowledge of IDEA StatiCa for advanced steel connection modeling.
- High proficiency in CSI SAFE for mat and isolated footings.
- Proficiency in AllPile, LPILE, or equivalent pile analysis software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD to review and direct draughtsmen in producing shop drawings.
- Deep understanding of AISC, Eurocodes, and ASCE (Wind Load analysis).
Skills
- Ability to solve complex structural challenges and optimize designs for both safety and cost.
- Capable of managing the entire structural engineering lifecycle of a project with minimal supervision
- Precision in checking calculations to prevent failures or rework during fabrication.
- Ability to explain technical constraints to non technical stakeholders
